Clay court specialist Nicolas Almagro advanced to his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the French Open in 2008, a season in which the Spaniard also won two clay-court titles to finish the year ranked No. 18. All 11 of Almagro's tournament titles have come on his beloved clay; he has claimed at least one title for seven straight seasons.  The Spanish right hander was a Roland Garros quarterfinalist again in 2010. In 2011, Almagro won 13 of his first 14 clay-court matches, collected three titles in a single season for the first time and finished the season as a year-end top 10 player for the first time. He was also a finalist in Acapulco and Hamburg. He won his third Brazil Open title in February, 2012.
