Janko Tipsarevic Bio
Sporting tattoos and an ever-present pair of prescription sports shades, Janko Tipsarevic advanced to his first grass final in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the summer of 2010 and later reached the Los Angeles semifinals. Tipsarevic posted a 3-1 singles record in Davis Cup play to help Serbia lift its first Davis Cup championship before a festive home crowd in Belgrade.  In 2011, Tipsarevic lost to Juan Martin del Potro in the Delray Beach final. He retired from the Eastbourne final with a right hip injury as his record in ATP finals fell to 0-4. The Montreal semifinalist defeated No. 9 Tomas Berdych and former finalist Juan Carlos Ferrero to advance to his first career major quarterfinal at the U.S. Open where he fell to Davis Cup teammate and good friend Novak Djokovic. In October, Tipsarevic captured his first two titles (at Kuala Lumpur on Oct. 2 and in Moscow on Oct. 23) and was runner-up to Marin Cilic in the St. Petersburg final. Tipsarevic stepped in to replace an injured Andy Murray at the ATP World Tour Finals and defeated Djokovic in his final match of 2011, concluding the year with a career-high ranking of No. 9 and a 54-26 record on the season. He opened the 2012 season falling to Milos Raonic in the Chennai singles final and winning the Chennai doubles title with Leander Paes. The top-seeded Tipsarevic beat second seed Juan Monaco to win his first clay-court title at Stuttgart in July, 2012.
